Caledonia erases deficit to stun St. Catharines, 3-2

The St. Catharines Falcons could not hold down the Caledonia Corvairs, and Corvairs erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win.

Caledonia never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Corvairs fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by St. Catharines' Tommy Barszcz at 2:13 in the second period. Caledonia tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Cody Brown at 10:19 in the third period. The Corvairs netted the game winner at 12:08 in the third period on a goal by Brown.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Falcons face elimination next time out.

Caledonia's penalty kill excelled, as the Corvairs gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Caledonia forced St. Catharines goalie Jonathon D Ilario to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

The Corvairs were helped by Spencer Gourlay, who racked up one goal and one assist. Caledonia additionally got points from Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Connor Patton, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Kyler Nixon, who had one and Connor Murphy, who had two.

Caledonia was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Yanni Rallis also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Aaron Taylor, who had one and Kyle Woodhouse, who had two.

Colin Furlong recorded 31 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Scott Dorian was ejected from the game. The Falcons' D Ilario stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. St. Catharines ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For the Falcons, Cam Blakely was ejected from the game.
