St. Catharines wins tough contest against Caledonia, 4-2Haldimand Center Sat, Mar 29, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Catharines Falcons escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Caledonia Corvairs. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mark Rodgers secured the win for St. Catharines with a goal in the second period. The win moved the Falcons to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. Rodgers had a great game for St. Catharines, netting two goals. The Falcons kept Caledonia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Colin Furlong made 28 saves on 32 shots. St. Catharines also got points from Yanni Rallis, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ryan Doucette also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Tommy Barszcz, who had one and Dillan Walker and Brennan Feasey, who contributed three each. The Corvairs were helped by Jake Brown, who registered one goal. Brown scored on the power play 10:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Rallis had put Caledonia on the power play. Jordan Peacock picked up the assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Kyler Nixon as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Spencer Gourlay, Cody Brown, and Ryan Blunt, who each chipped in one. Jonathon D Ilario recorded 23 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Corvairs incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Caledonia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Murphy was ejected from the game. |
