The Chatham Maroons survived a determined comeback attempt by the LaSalle Vipers on the way to a 5-4 win. A goal by Trevor Richardson put Chatham up 5-1 in the third period, but LaSalle pulled to within one on Dylan Denomme's tally 19:27 into the third period. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Vipers face elimination next time out. The Maroons got the win behind a great game by Adam Arseneault, who had two goals and one assist. Arseneault scored the first of his two goals at 10:34 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Chatham. Ian Faubert picked up the assist. Arseneault's next tally made the score 4-1 Chatham with 1:01 left in the second period. Michael Verboom assisted on the tally. Chatham forced LaSalle's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots and forcing 34 saves. Cameron Zanussi made 13 stops and Paolo Battisti made 21. Chatham additionally got points from Jared Dennis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Chatham came via Nate Pietens, who had two and Steven Szekesy and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in one. The Vipers forced the Maroons goalie Jacob Keogh to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. LaSalle also got points from Mark Manchurek, who also registered one goal and two assists and Devon Paliani, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Andrew Burns, who had one and Austin Hall, who had two. Keogh rejected 42 shots on goal for Chatham. The Maroons totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Chatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and John Bowen was ejected from the game. LaSalle incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
