Chatham squeaks by LaSalle, 3-2

The Chatham Maroons gutted out a close 3-2 win against the LaSalle Vipers.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Ian Faubert's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win gave Chatham a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Maroons were led by Faubert, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Faubert scored 6:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Chatham. Adam Arseneault provided the assist.

Chatham kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Paolo Battisti made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Others who scored for Chatham included Trevor Richardson and Michael Levesque, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Connor Annett, Nate Pietens, Charlie Izaguirre, and Michael Verboom, who each chipped in one.

The Maroons were unable to stop the Vipers from sending pucks towards the net, and LaSalle eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Vipers were helped by Nathan Savage, who racked up one goal. Savage scored on the power play 1:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. LaSalle had taken the advantage when Chatham's James McEwan got sent off for delay of game. Bryce Mayea picked up the assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Mark Manchurek as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Bill Eansor, Aaron Luchuk, and Devon Paliani, who contributed one each.

Jacob Keogh made 33 saves for the Maroons on 35 shots. Chatham incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Vipers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
