GAME RECAP

Leamington downs London in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Western Fair CC    Wed, Mar 19, 2014

The Leamington Flyers pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the London Nationals on a clutch goal by David Dalby.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, London faces elimination next time out.

Leamington was led by goalie Austyn Roudebush, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Roudebush will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.3.

The Flyers were sparked by Dalby, who racked up one goal. Dalby scored on the power play 5:08 into to make the score 2-1 Leamington. A roughing penalty on Ryan Wells had put Leamington on the power play.

The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Nationals to score on any of their five power plays. Leamington forced London goalie Jacob Riley to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

Leamington also got a goal from Tony Spidalieri as well. More assists for Leamington came via Alex Seguin and Mitchell Amante, who each chipped in one.

The Nationals' offense rang up 35 shots on the Flyers' net.

London was led by Jeff Bauer, who scored the team's only goal. Bauer scored 6:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 London. Keaton Ratcliffe provided the assist.

Leamington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Nationals' Riley stopped 51 shots out of the 53 that he faced. London incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
