Buehler leads Waterloo over Elmira, 7-3

The Waterloo Siskins' Evan Buehler had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Buehler got on the board by slotting home a goal 18:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Ryan Taylor provided the assist. Buehler dished an assist on Evan Kearns's goal that made the score 3-0 Waterloo at 6:57 into the second period. He then added assists on Danny Hanlon's goal at 1:30 into the third and on Christian Mroczkowski's goal at 17:57 into the third.

Waterloo evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:44 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Siskins forced Sugar Kings' goaltenders to work all game long, launching 45 shots and forcing 38 saves. Jonathan Reinhart made 20 stops and Hayden Neuman made 18. Waterloo stifled Elmira's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Waterloo additionally got points from Kearns, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Mroczkowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jarrett Parker, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Hanlon, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Waterloo also got a goal from Joshua Defarias as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Nick Hirst, Eric Cimino, and Matthew Mah, who each chipped in one.

The Sugar Kings forced Siskins' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 48 shots and forcing 45 saves. Leo Lazarev made 45 stops and Ryan Hergott made zero.

Elmira also had goals scored by Brodie Whitehead, Adam Campagnolo, and Cash Seraphim, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from Adam Brubacher, Eric Palazzolo, Cass Frey, Zac Coulter, and Mitch Wright, who contributed one each.

The Siskins totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-9 on the power play. Team's Parker and Connor Bodnar were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Elmira totaled 37 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For the Sugar Kings, Matt Harding was ejected from the game.
