Wright's goals lift Elmira to 5-2 victory over Waterloo

The Elmira Sugar Kings relied on the scoring touch of Mitch Wright, who netted two goals, to beat the Waterloo Siskins, 5-2.

Wright scored at 10:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 19:43 into the first to make the score 2-1 Elmira.

With the win, Elmira evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Elmira also got points from Brad Kobryn, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Elmira also had goals scored by Cass Frey and Cash Seraphim, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Brodie Whitehead, Mitch Klie, Eric Palazzolo, and Zac Coulter, who contributed one each and David Savery and Adam Campagnolo, who each chipped in two.

The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Waterloo was helped by Danny Hanlon, who grabbed one goal. Hanlon scored on the power play 6:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. A boarding penalty on Rob Kohli had put the Siskins on the power play. Eric Cimino picked up the assist. Waterloo additionally got points from Evan Buehler, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Christian Mroczkowski and Matthew Mah, who contributed one each.

Jonathan Reinhart made 29 saves for Elmira on 31 shots. The Sugar Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Leo Lazarev rejected 20 shots on goal for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
