Thorold rides Polasek to victory over Ancaster, 3-1

Kyle Tanev was all over the ice for the Thorold Blackhawks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Thorold's 3-1 win over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Tanev got on the board by slotting home a goal 19:37 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Thorold. Matt Pizzo assisted on the tally. Tanev dished an assist on Drake Hart's goal that made the score 1-1 at 8:36 into the first period. He added another helper on Owen Sobchak's goal that made the score 2-1 Thorold at 2:22 into the second period.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Ancaster faces elimination next time out.

The Blackhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Avalanche forced Thorold goalie Brendan Polasek to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Ancaster's penalty kill unit could not stop the Blackhawks' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

The Avalanche were led by Harrison Domagala, who scored the team's only goal. Domagala scored 3:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. Eric Eustace provided the assist.

Polasek rejected 33 shots on goal for Thorold. The Blackhawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Calas recorded 20 saves for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Team's Blake Luscombe and Zach Nieminen were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
