London beats Sarnia 3-0 as Riley gains shutout

Jacob Riley was superb between the pipes for the London Nationals, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

London evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

The Nationals pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

London was paced by Matt Fuller, who tallied one goal. Fuller scored 8:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. Mike Whaley provided the assist.

The Nationals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Sarnia power plays.

London additionally got points from Whaley, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jonathan Sims also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Keaton Ratcliffe, Scott Lombardi, and Derek Todosichuk, who contributed one a piece.

Sarnia stifled London's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Legionnaires kept the Nationals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley made 37 saves on 37 shots.

London registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. Hunter Johnson rejected 25 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Nathan Mater and Tyler Prong were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
