Boyer's big game bests London in 5-2 Sarnia win

The Sarnia Legionnaires' Davis Boyer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the London Nationals.

Boyer scored at 32 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sarnia and again while 18:21 into the third to make the score 4-2 Sarnia.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, London faces elimination next time out.

Sarnia additionally got points from Josh Kestner, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Sarnia included Cody Trowell and Brandon Layman, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Tyler Prong, who had two, Curtis Crombeen, who had three, and Riley Babkirk and Nathan Mater, who each chipped in one.

The Nationals were helped by Derek Todosichuk, who grabbed one goal. Todosichuk scored on the power play 19:59 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Sarnia. London earned a power play opportunity when Mater was put in the box for slashing. Ryan Tuffin picked up the assist. Matt Wildman also scored for London. More assists for London came via Ryan Shipley, who had one.

Hunter Johnson made 25 saves for Sarnia on 27 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jacob Riley rejected 14 shots on goal for the Nationals. London incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
