Paliani's goals lift LaSalle to 4-1 victory over St. Thomas

Behind a great game by Devon Paliani, who had two goals, the LaSalle Vipers defeated the St. Thomas Stars, 4-1.

Paliani's tallies came on the power play at 11:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle and 19:01 into the first to make the score 2-0 LaSalle.

The win by LaSalle broke a deadlock and gave the Vipers a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

LaSalle's Paolo Battisti was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Battisti certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest.

The Vipers' penalty kill excelled, as LaSalle gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

St. Thomas was unable to stop the Vipers from sending pucks towards the net, and LaSalle eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

LaSalle additionally got points from Dylan Denomme, who also finished with one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Mark Manchurek as well. More assists for LaSalle came via Bill Eansor, Blake Jones, and Bryce Mayea, who each chipped in one and Austin Hall and Aaron Luchuk, who contributed two a piece.

The Stars were led by John Warren, who scored the team's only goal. Warren scored on the power play 6:50 into the third period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle. St. Thomas had taken the advantage when the Vipers' Hall got sent off for cross checking. Chris Carreiro provided the assist.

LaSalle incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Stars' Nikolas Dampier stopped 44 shots out of the 47 that he faced. St. Thomas incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. For the Stars, Austin Ulett was ejected from the game.
