St. Catharines rolls over Fort Erie, 4-1

The St. Catharines Falcons had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Fort Erie Meteors.

The win by St. Catharines clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Fort Erie was stymied by the Falcons netminder Jonathon D Ilario, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, D Ilario will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

St. Catharines was led by Brennan Feasey, who had one goal. Feasey scored 13:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. Ryan Doucette assisted on the tally.

St. Catharines also got points from Aaron Taylor, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for St. Catharines included Yanni Rallis and Brandon Cercone, who each put in one. More assists for St. Catharines came via Brad Col, Kyle Woodhouse, Greg Jambrosich, Tyler Jackson, Mitch Bursey, and Tommy Barszcz, who each chipped in one.

The Meteors were led by Jesse Pereira, who scored the team's only goal. Pereira scored on the power play 18:54 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines. Fort Erie had taken the advantage when the Falcons' Woodhouse got sent off for tripping. Sam Quaranta picked up the assist.

St. Catharines incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Meteors' Matt Baker stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Fort Erie totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Team's Austin Carroll and Josh Micallef were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
