St. Catharines rolls over Fort Erie, 9-0

The Fort Erie Meteors had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Catharines Falcons, which beat Meteors, 9-0.

The win gave St. Catharines a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Brennan Feasey had two goals and three assists to lead the Falcons. Feasey scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:34 into the second period to make the score 5-0 St. Catharines. A roughing penalty on Sam Quaranta had put St. Catharines on the power play. Broderick Kelly picked up the assist. Feasey's next tally on the power play made the score 6-0 St. Catharines with three seconds left in the second period. The Falcons had gotten the advantage when Fort Erie's Austin Carroll was sent off for tripping. Ryan Doucette provided the assist.

St. Catharines made the Meteors' netminders to work all game long, taking 34 shots and forcing 25 saves. Liam Conway made 20 stops and Matt Baker made five. The Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fort Erie to score on any of its five power plays.

St. Catharines also got points from Doucette, who also registered one goal and four assists and Mark Rodgers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Tommy Barszcz, who had two and Greg Jambrosich, Tyler Jackson, and Nigel Slade, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Dillan Walker, who had two.

Knick Dawe made 22 saves for St. Catharines on 22 shots. The Falcons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Meteors ended with 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Fort Erie ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Marsden was ejected from the game.
