Brown leads Caledonia over Port Colborne, 10-2

The Caledonia Corvairs' Jake Brown had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 10-2 win over the Port Colborne Pirates.

Brown's tallies came at 7:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia and 7:40 into the second to make the score 4-2 Caledonia.

The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Corvairs forced Port Colborne goalie Jake Danson to work between the pipes, taking 66 shots.

Caledonia also got points from Cody Brown, who also registered two goals and one assist, Connor Murphy, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Cosimo Fontana, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Matt Quilty, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledonia included Brier Jonathan and Mitch Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Caledonia came via Kyler Nixon, who had three, Jordan Peacock, Steve Comegna, Ryan Blunt, and Jeffrey Malott, who contributed one a piece, and Scott Dorian, Chance MacDonald, and Todd Ratchford, who each chipped in two.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Pirates were led by Brandon Cullen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Cullen scored 14:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Colborne. Jerrad Taylor picked up the assist. RJ Sciarrone also scored for Port Colborne. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Spencer Fox and Matthew White, who contributed one a piece.

Curtis D Ortenzio made three saves before being replaced by Colin Furlong, who took the win and made 11 saves. Caledonia totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For the Corvairs, Spencer Gourlay was ejected from the game. Port Colborne's Danson stopped 56 shots out of the 66 that he faced. The Pirates incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
