Caledonia blows out Port Colborne, 7-0

The Port Colborne Pirates had trouble finding ways to stop the Caledonia Corvairs, which beat Pirates, 7-0.

The win gave Caledonia a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Corvairs got the win thanks to a great game by Scott Dorian, who had two goals and two assists. Dorian scored the first of his two goals at 10:56 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Caledonia. Jordan Peacock picked up the assist. Dorian's next tally made the score 7-0 Caledonia with one second1 seconds left in the third period. Brier Jonathan provided the assist.

Caledonia's penalty kill excelled, as the Corvairs gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Caledonia stifled Port Colborne's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Corvairs kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Danson made 66 saves on 73 shots.

Caledonia additionally got points from Connor Patton, who also had one goal and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Spencer Gourlay, Cody Brown, Connor Murphy, and Jake Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Matt Quilty, who had two and Justin Abraham, Chance MacDonald, Jayme Forslund, Kyler Nixon, and Jeffrey Malott, who each chipped in one.

Port Colborne's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Caledonia power plays.

Colin Furlong made 15 saves for Caledonia on 15 shots. The Corvairs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
