Strathroy falls to Chatham in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Chatham Maroons pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Strathroy Rockets on a clutch goal by Adam Arseneault.

The win by Chatham clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Arseneault had two goals and one assist to lead the Maroons. Arseneault scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:01 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Chatham had taken the advantage when Strathroy's Tyler Duarte got sent off for cross checking. Kyle Brothers assisted on the tally. Arseneault's next tally on the power play made the score 6-5 Chatham with 16:11 left in overtime. Connor Annett picked up the assist.

The Maroons forced the Rockets goalie Jack Moylan to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

Chatham additionally got points from Jared Dennis, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Brothers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Michael Verboom, who also registered one goal and one assist. James McEwan also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Brayden Hopkins, who contributed one a piece.

Strathroy's offense rang up 32 shots on Chatham's net.

The Rockets were led by Nick Boyer, who had one goal and two assists. Boyer scored 16:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Strathroy. Cole Mayo provided the assist. Others who scored for Strathroy included Jack Kilgour, Mike Mandarelli, Chase Thornton, and Wes Baker, who each put in one. More assists for Strathroy came via Shawn Grogan, who had two and Kurtis Sander, who had three.

Jacob Keogh made 27 saves for the Maroons on 32 shots. Chatham incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Moylan rejected 45 shots on goal for Strathroy. The Rockets totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Strathroy ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Coleman was ejected from the game.
