Cambridge falls to Stratford in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Deven Kropf gave the Stratford Cullitons a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks when he scored 7:26 into the extra period.

The win by Stratford clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Cullitons came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Stratford was down 3-0 after a short handed goal by Cambridge's Alex Bottigoni at 1:05 in the third period. The Cullitons knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Trevor Sauder at 9:07 in the third period.

Stratford got the win on the strength of a great game by Mitch Brooks, who had one goal and two assists. Brooks scored 7:44 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cambridge.

The Winter Hawks were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Stratford also got points from Kropf, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Patrick McKelvie as well. More assists for Stratford came via Tyson Baker, who had one and Jake Pleon, who had two.

Cambridge was helped by Matt Pinder, who racked up one goal. Pinder scored on the power play 12:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. The Winter Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Ryker Killins was put in the box for tripping. Maxime Lamontagne assisted on the tally. Cambridge additionally got points from Lamontagne, who also had one goal and one assist and Bottigoni, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Brandon Plourde and Cody Gratton, who each chipped in one.

Nicholas Caldwell made 26 saves for the Cullitons on 29 shots. Stratford incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cambridge's Lucas Machalski stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Winter Hawks totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Cambridge, Tyler Peters was ejected from the game.
