Stratford downs Cambridge, 3-1

Brett Heaman racked up one point to lead the Stratford Cullitons to a 3-1 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

The win gave Stratford a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Cullitons stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford's offense rang up 35 shots on the Winter Hawks' net.

Others who scored for Stratford included Nick Nigro and Shane O Brien, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Patrick McKelvie, Jordan Currie, Trevor MacDonald, and Tyson Baker, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Winter Hawks were led by Devin Shell, who scored the team's only goal. Shell scored 13:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Lucas Zitmanis picked up the assist.

Nicholas Caldwell recorded 22 saves for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lucas Machalski made 32 saves for Cambridge on 35 shots. The Winter Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
