Elmira rips Brampton, 5-2

The Brampton Bombers had trouble finding ways to stop the Elmira Sugar Kings, which beat Bombers, 5-2.

The win by Elmira broke a deadlock and gave the Sugar Kings a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Brampton power plays.

The Sugar Kings were helped by Mitch Wright, who finished with two goals. Wright scored the first of his two goals at 2:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Adam Brubacher picked up the assist. Wright's next tally made the score 2-0 Elmira with 13:32 left in the first period. Adam Campagnolo provided the assist. Elmira also got points from Campagnolo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Elmira also had goals scored by Alex Mutton and Cash Seraphim, who each put in one. In addition, Elmira received assists from Justin Cooke, Rob Kohli, Mitch Klie, and Eric Palazzolo, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton stifled Elmira's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Bombers were helped by Ethan Morrison, who had one goal. Morrison scored 7:46 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Elmira. Phil Caputo picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Chris Maione as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Josh Villaflor, who had two.

Hayden Neuman recorded 26 saves for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Brampton's Scott Patton stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Bombers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
