Jackman's goals lift Brampton to 3-1 victory over ElmiraVictoria Park Arena Fri, Feb 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers relied on the scoring touch of Reid Jackman, who netted two goals, to beat the Elmira Sugar Kings, 3-1. Jackman scored at 8:22 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton and again while on the power play 10:55 into the second to make the score 2-0 Brampton.With the win, Brampton evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The Bombers' Scott Patton was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Patton will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.0. Elmira's power play was ineffective against Brampton's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Bombers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sugar Kings to score on any of their nine power plays. Brampton also got a goal from Brandon Clelland as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Mark Shoemaker, Connor Andersen, Brad Sheppard, and Francois Cote, who contributed one a piece. Elmira's offense rang up 31 shots on Brampton's net. The Sugar Kings were led by Mitch Wright, who scored the team's only goal. Wright scored 18:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Adam Campagnolo provided the assist. The Bombers incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors. Brampton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Phil Caputo was ejected from the game. Hayden Neuman made 19 saves for Elmira on 21 shots. The Sugar Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. |
