Buehler's goals lift Waterloo to 4-1 victory over GuelphWaterloo Rec Complex Wed, Mar 05, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins relied on the scoring touch of Evan Buehler, who netted two goals, to beat the Guelph Hurricanes, 4-1. Buehler's tallies came on the power play at 10:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Waterloo and on the power play 11:25 into the third to make the score 3-1 Waterloo.The win by Waterloo clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Siskins were led by goalie Leo Lazarev, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Lazarev managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.21 prior to the game. Waterloo kept Guelph's goalie busy throughout the game, and Stormer Santana made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Siskins did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Waterloo cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Waterloo also got points from Eric Cimino, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Evan Kearns as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Nick Hirst, Christian Mroczkowski, Mitch Atkins, Ryan Taylor, and Danny Hanlon, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes were led by Craig Martini, who scored the team's only goal. Martini scored 11:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Zach McFadden provided the assist. Guelph totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For the Hurricanes, Michael Courvoisier and McFadden were ejected from the contest. |
