Thorold's Goulet deadly on offense in 3-0 win against Ancaster

Chris Goulet had two goals to lead the Thorold Blackhawks to a 3-0 victory over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Goulet found the back of the net 2:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Thorold and again while short handed 5:17 into the second to make the score 2-0 Thorold.

The win gave Thorold a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Blackhawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 32 penalty minutes.

Thorold stifled Ancaster's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Owen Sobchak also scored for Thorold. In addition, Thorold received assists from Brendan Polasek, Kevin Lavoie, Joe Mitchell, Michael Sharp, and Carl Greco, who each chipped in one.

The Avalanche was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage.

Brendan Polasek made 21 saves for the Blackhawks on 21 shots. Thorold registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Matt Calas rejected 23 shots on goal for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
