Bruins uses early goal to top Leafs, 1-0

Luke Schenn gave Bruins the lead in the first period, and Leafs was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 1-0.

Bruins took over the lead for good with a goal by Schenn at 2:15 in the first period. James Reimer picked up the assist.

Bruins was led by Schenn, who had one goal.

Bruins did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting three shots on net to force two saves.

In addition, Bruins received assists from Dion Pfaneuf, who had one.

Bruins' defense shut down Leafs' forwards for much of the game, and Leafs got off only eight shots during the contest. Leafs did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Reimer rejected eight shots on goal for Bruins. Bruins avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays. Leafs' starting goalie, Bobby Orr, made zero saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Cody Vinnai, who stopped two shots. Leafs registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
