Minnetonka boosted by Berger's play in net, beats Benilde-St. Margarets 4-1TCF Bank Stadium Sat, Jan 11, 2014 The Minnetonka Skippers relied on the sparkling performance of Jacob Berger in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Benilde-St. Margarets Red Knights. Minnetonka was led by Sean McAndrews, who grabbed one goal. McAndrews scored 6:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Minnetonka. Mitchell Terrell assisted on the tally. The Skippers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Minnetonka additionally got points from John Schuldt, who also registered one goal and one assist. Minnetonka also had goals scored by AJ Klein and Gavin Payne, who scored one goal each. In addition, Minnetonka received assists from Jack Kuehn and Ben Hersman, who each chipped in two. Benilde-St. Margarets did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Red Knights average 4.8 goals per game. Benilde-St. Margarets forced Minnetonka goalie Berger to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Red Knights were led by Spencer Naas, who scored the team's only goal. Naas scored 10:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Benilde-St. Margarets. Nate Meyer provided the assist. Berger rejected 36 shots on goal for the Skippers. Minnetonka registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Jalen Long recorded 17 saves for Benilde-St. Margarets. The Red Knights incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
