Dickison leads Holy Family Catholic over Benilde-St. Margarets, 7-3Victoria Thu, Dec 12, 2013 The Holy Family Catholic Fire's Jake Dickison had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-3 win over the Benilde-St. Margarets Red Knights. Dickison scored at 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Holy Family Catholic and again while 16:38 into the second to make the score 6-1 Holy Family Catholic.Holy Family Catholic stifled Benilde-St. Margarets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Fire relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Joey Marooney, Jonh Peterson and Matt Runyon took 15 of the team's 27 shots. Holy Family Catholic got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Holy Family Catholic also got points from Peterson, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Marooney, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Patrick Redden, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Holy Family Catholic received assists from Will Garin and Ryan Swanson, who contributed three a piece. The Red Knights managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Benilde-St. Margarets finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Red Knights did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Benilde-St. Margarets averages 5.8 goals per game. The 63 shots that the Red Knights put on net surpassed Benilde-St. Margarets' average of 44.3 shots per game this season. The Red Knights were helped by Peter Heimbold, who racked up one goal and one assist. Heimbold scored 10:52 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Holy Family Catholic. Ben Newhouse assisted on the tally. Benilde-St. Margarets additionally got points from Newhouse, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Zach Ristau also scored for Benilde-St. Margarets. More assists for Benilde-St. Margarets came via Nick Austin and Nate Meyer, who each chipped in one. Derek LaCombe recorded 60 saves for the Fire. Holy Family Catholic incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Benilde-St. Margarets' starting goalie, Jalen Long, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Matt Knuth, who stopped 11 shots. The Red Knights registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
