Cambridge downs London in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Cambridge Winter Hawks' Trevor Hache scored 1:35 into overtime to beat the London Nationals, 4-3 (OT).

Cambridge overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Winter Hawks was down 3-1 after a short handed goal by London's Matt Fuller at 7:37 in the second period. Cambridge tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Chris Taylor at 6:10 in the third period.

The Winter Hawks were led by Hache, who registered one goal.

Cambridge made the Nationals' goalies to work in net, racking up 52 shots and forcing 48 saves. Nick Dampier made 20 stops and Taylor Edwards made 28. The Winter Hawks' penalty kill unit could not stop London's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. The defensemen of Cambridge were also effective in the Nationals' zone, and came away with two goals.

Cambridge additionally got points from Cody Gratton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Anthony Guido also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Hudson Michaelis, Aaron Duggan, Andrew Coupland, and Todd Bannermon, who contributed one a piece.

London's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cambridge power plays.

The Nationals were helped by Aaron Dartch, who tallied one goal. Dartch scored on the power play 19:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 London. London had taken the advantage when the Winter Hawks' Michaelis got sent off for high sticking. Derek Todosichuk provided the assist. London also got points from Fuller, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. London also got a goal from Noah Schwartz as well. Other players who recorded assists for London were Mark Gazdic, Tyler Bryden, Keaton Ratcliffe, and Sean Consitt, who each chipped in one.

Cambridge took out Lucas Machalski after he had made six saves and installed Jordan Lee in goal, where he finished with nine saves and the win. The Winter Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Nationals incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For London, Shawn Crowley was ejected from the game.
