Palm Beach Hawks falls to Hampton Roads Whalers in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Matthew Culcasi gave Hampton Roads Whalers a 5-4 (OT) victory over Palm Beach Hawks when he scored 1:20 into the extra period.

Culcasi had two goals and one assist to lead Hampton Roads Whalers. Culcasi scored the first of his two goals at 6:12 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Cameron Snyder picked up the assist. Culcasi's next tally made the score 5-4 Hampton Roads Whalers with 18:40 left in overtime. Jonathan Jones provided the assist.

Palm Beach Hawks' power play was ineffective against Hampton Roads Whalers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Hampton Roads Whalers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Palm Beach Hawks power plays. Hampton Roads Whalers forced Palm Beach Hawks goalie Tommy Cruz to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Hampton Roads Whalers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.
