Van Louwe lifts Simcoe over Aylmer, 7-2

The Simcoe Storm were firing on all cylinders against the Aylmer Spitfires, and when the final buzzer sounded Storm emerged with a 7-2 win.

The win moved Simcoe to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Zack Van Louwe had two goals to lead the Storm to victory. Van Louwe scored at 9:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Simcoe and again while 13:15 into the first to make the score 2-0 Simcoe.

Aylmer's power play was ineffective against Simcoe's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Spitfires to score on any of their six power plays. Aylmer was unable to stop Simcoe from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Simcoe also got points from Conner Robinson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Simcoe also had goals scored by Brad Herriott, who had one and Braedan Walker, who had three. More assists for Simcoe came via Wade Metz, who had two and Clayton Chalmers, Jamie Kelly, Brett Lewis, Alex Gamble, and Braden Roberts, who contributed one a piece.

The Spitfires' offense rang up 36 shots on Simcoe's net.

Alex Gegeny made 34 saves for the Storm on 36 shots. Simcoe incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For the Storm, Kennan Hall was ejected from the game. Lucas Easterbrook recorded 42 saves for Aylmer. The Spitfires incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Aylmer ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clint Walker was ejected from the game.
