Sibell, Cambridge/Isanti blank Simley, 3-0

Jacob Sibell made 32 saves to complete the shutout and led the Cambridge/Isanti Bluejackets to a 3-0 win against the Simley Spartans.

Cambridge/Isanti pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 25 penalty minutes.

The Bluejackets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances.

Cambridge/Isanti was helped by Collin Anderson, who finished with one goal. Anderson scored on the power play 7:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge/Isanti. The Bluejackets earned a power play opportunity when Nick Kemp was put in the box for checking from behind. Preston Simon picked up the assist. Cambridge/Isanti also got points from Veeti Uuttera, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cambridge/Isanti also got a goal from Dustin Davis as well. More assists for Cambridge/Isanti came via Mitch Renstrom and Mavrick Nelson, who each chipped in one.

Simley forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Spartans had been averaging 11.0 minutes in penalties per game. Simley was held below its usual level of production. The Spartans put an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. Cambridge/Isanti was unable to stop Simley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Spartans eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Bluejackets registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Simley's Zach Boughton stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced.
