Potomac Patriots vanquishes Space Coast Hurricanes in shootout, 4-3 (3-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Potomac Patriots defeated Space Coast Hurricanes in a shootout 4-3 (3-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. Space Coast Hurricanes' shootout goal was scored by Crissostomos Villarreal. In addition to the clincher, Potomac Patriots got shootout goals from Cameron Smith and Travis Reece.

Potomac Patriots' penalty kill excelled, as Potomac Patriots gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Potomac Patriots was paced by Reece, who finished with one goal. Reece scored short handed 20:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Potomac Patriots. Potomac Patriots played down a man on Sean Gregory's hooking. Santiago picked up the assist.

Potomac Patriots could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Andrew Turgeon also scored for Potomac Patriots. More assists for Potomac Patriots came via Nathan Marks and Kevin McDonald, who each chipped in one.

Space Coast Hurricanes' offense rang up 31 shots on Potomac Patriots' net.

Space Coast Hurricanes was helped by Jack Musil, who racked up two goals. Musil scored the first of his two goals at 54 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Chase Harris provided the assist. Musil's next tally made the score 3-2 Potomac Patriots with -72 seconds left in the second period. Villarreal assisted on the tally. Space Coast Hurricanes also got points from Harris, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Space Coast Hurricanes were Jamie Chilcott, Keegan Finn, and Griffin Rogers, who contributed one a piece.

Dustyn Moyer made 28 saves for Potomac Patriots on 31 shots. Potomac Patriots registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Jeremy Laux rejected 18 shots on goal for Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
