Atlanta Jr. Knights uses shootout to best Space Coast Hurricanes, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Atlanta Jr. Knights defeated Space Coast Hurricanes in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Atlanta Jr. Knights came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Atlanta Jr. Knights trailed 2-0 after a goal by Space Coast Hurricanes' Griffin Rogers at 52 seconds in the second period. Atlanta Jr. Knights knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Rogers at 22:34 in the second period.

Atlanta Jr. Knights' penalty kill excelled, as Atlanta Jr. Knights gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Atlanta Jr. Knights stifled Space Coast Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Space Coast Hurricanes was unable to stop Atlanta Jr. Knights from sending pucks towards the net, and Atlanta Jr. Knights eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Atlanta Jr. Knights was led by George Gerasimou, who finished with two goals. Gerasimou scored the first of his two goals at 5:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Space Coast Hurricanes. Gerasimou's next tally made the score 2-2 with 13:56 left in the second period. A cross checking call on Jeremy Bost put Atlanta Jr. Knights on the penalty kill. Nick Webb assisted on the tally. Atlanta Jr. Knights also got a goal from William Bray as well. Other players who recorded assists for Atlanta Jr. Knights were Kenny Coleman, who had one.

Space Coast Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Andrew Bathgate also scored for Space Coast Hurricanes. More assists for Space Coast Hurricanes came via Jack Musil, who had three and Jamie Chilcott and Crissostomos Villarreal, who contributed one a piece.

Brandon Haase made 21 saves for Atlanta Jr. Knights on 24 shots. Atlanta Jr. Knights incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Space Coast Hurricanes' Parker Bonis stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
