Cambridge/Isanti falls to Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake after surprising comeback

The Cambridge/Isanti Bluejackets could not hold down the Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake Moose, and Moose erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Moose took a 4-3 advantage on a power play goal by Mason Vetsch at 12:46 in the second period. Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake found itself down 3-1 after Cambridge/Isanti's Colton Miller put the puck home at 12:58 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by John Drummer at 11:40 in the third, the Moose got the game-winner from Sam Johnson at 13:32 in the third period.

Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake was sparked by Johnson, who finished with one goal.

The Moose's offense rang up 36 shots on the Bluejackets' net.

Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake also got points from Vetsch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Colton Jones, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake also got a goal from Neal Wagner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake were Mark Rieger-Borer, Drew Brockman, and Birk Olson, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge/Isanti additionally got points from Drummer, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Elliott Simon also scored for Cambridge/Isanti. More assists for Cambridge/Isanti came via Kurtis Grimm, who had two and Mitch Renstrom, Jacob Sylvester, and Veeti Uuttera, who each chipped in one.

Darien Jones rejected 15 shots on goal for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake. The Moose incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cambridge/Isanti's Jacob Sibell stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Bluejackets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
