Ternus leads Rogers to shutout victory over Anoka

Blake Ternus made 28 saves to complete the shutout and led the Rogers Royals to a 3-0 win against the Anoka Tornadoes.

Rogers was sparked by Travis Brown, who grabbed one goal. Brown scored 8:13 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Rogers. Branden Cecil assisted on the tally.

The Royals stifled Anoka's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rogers did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Royals put an average of 6.3 pucks into the net per game. Rogers' defensive effort looked to be improved. The Royals gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. Rogers forced the Tornadoes goalie Robbie Goor to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Rogers additionally got points from Nate Weber, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Rogers also got a goal from Kyle Korva as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rogers were Parker Veith, who had one.

The Anoka penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Tornadoes had been averaging 12.0 minutes in penalties per game. Anoka put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Royals to score on any of their six power plays.

Rogers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Goor rejected 34 shots on goal for the Tornadoes. Anoka registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
