St. Michael-Albertville stifles Buffalo's comeback, gains 5-3 victory

The St. Michael-Albertville Knights, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by St. Michael-Albertville and clinched a 5-3 victory.

The Knights led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when St. Michael-Albertville's David Anderson's scored at 10:54 in the second period to put the Knights up 4-1.

St. Michael-Albertville forced the Buffalo Bison goalie Mikey Otten to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

The Knights were helped by Matt Kisch, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kisch scored short handed 16:46 into the third period to make the score 5-3 St. Michael-Albertville. Others who scored for St. Michael-Albertville included Nate Fischbach, who had one and Connor Spetz, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michael-Albertville were Daniel Lund, Brett Marshall, and Jon Gibbs, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo was helped by Cale Ehresmann, who finished with one goal. Ehresmann scored 13:58 into the second period to make the score 4-3 St. Michael-Albertville. Aaron Rouse provided the assist. Buffalo also got points from Hunter Bruhn, who also registered one goal and one assist and Justin Laven, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Jack Patnode, who had one.

St. Michael-Albertville's Matt Borgen stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Knights incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mikey Otten made 34 saves for the Bison on 39 shots. Buffalo totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
