Buffalo wins tough contest against Rogers, 4-2Rogers AC Thu, Jan 10, 2013 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Buffalo Bison escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Rogers Royals. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jack Patnode secured the win for Buffalo with a goal in the second period. The Bison were paced by Patnode, who registered one goal. Patnode scored on the power play 16:39 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Buffalo. Buffalo had gotten the advantage when Rogers' Jacob Walker was sent off for charging. Justin Laven provided the assist. The Bison's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Rogers power plays. Buffalo also got a goal from Gunnar Goodmanson as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Joe Hayes, who had one and Aaron Rouse, who had two. The Royals forced Buffalo goalie Mikey Otten to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Rogers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Royals finished with 16 penalty minutes. Rogers was helped by Branden Cecil, who had one goal. Cecil scored 2:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Rogers. Brandon Spah picked up the assist. Alexander Lorman also scored for Rogers. Other players who recorded assists for Rogers were Jason Roberge, Spencer Marchand, and Kyle Ellis, who contributed one a piece. The Bison's Otten stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Blake Ternus rejected 21 shots on goal for the Royals.
