HC Gherdeina survives HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega comeback, wins 7-6

The HC Gherdeina Furie survived a determined comeback attempt by the HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega Wild Goose on the way to a 7-6 win.

HC Gherdeina took a 7-4 lead during the third period, only to have HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega storm back on a Rudi Locatin goal 19:55 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Benjamin Kostner and Kevin Senoner provided the spark for the Furie, combining for two goals and six assists. Kostner registered one goal and three assists and Senoner also notched one goal and three assists.

HC Gherdeina could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

HC Gherdeina additionally got points from Niklas Anger, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Gabriel Vinatzer, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Ivan Demetz, who also had one goal and one assist, and Senoner, who also registered one goal and three assists. HC Gherdeina also got a goal from Joel Brugnoli as well. Other players who recorded assists for HC Gherdeina were Fabrizio Senoner, Fabio Kostner, and Gabriel Lang, who contributed one a piece.

The Wild Goose found themselves short handed often, totaling 30 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega was helped by Davide Stricker, who racked up two goals. Stricker scored the first of his two goals at 3:46 into the second period to make the score 4-2 HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega. Locatin assisted on the tally. Stricker's next tally made the score 7-5 HC Gherdeina with 7:46 left in the third period. Michael Sullmann picked up the assist. HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega also got points from Locatin, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Flavio Faggioni, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Markus Simonazzi also scored for HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega. In addition, HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega received assists from Paolo Bustreo, who had two, Manuel Bertignoll, who had three, and Patrick Zambaldi and Dominik Massar, who each chipped in one.

Florian Grossgasteiger made 28 saves for the Furie on 34 shots. Martin Rizzi rejected 21 shots on goal for the Wild Goose. HC Neumarkt Egna Riwega registered three goals on six power play opportunities.
