NE Wolves vanquishes Hampton Roads Whalers in shootout, 4-3 (4-3 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as NE Wolves defeated Hampton Roads Whalers in a shootout 4-3 (4-3 SO).

The shootout featured 24 attempts between both teams. Hampton Roads Whalers' shootout goals were scored by Cameron Snyder, Dylan Woods, and Allen McCloud. NE Wolves also got shootout goals from Collin Bourque, Matthew Heise, and Mike Fish.

NE Wolves overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. NE Wolves was down 3-1 after a goal by Hampton Roads Whalers' Snyder at 15:19 in the second period. NE Wolves tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Connor Mauro at 22:14 in the second period.

NE Wolves' offense rang up 73 shots on Hampton Roads Whalers' net.

Bourque also scored for NE Wolves. In addition, NE Wolves received assists from Heise, who had one.

Hampton Roads Whalers kept NE Wolves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Cerulo made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Hampton Roads Whalers was helped by Alexander Brissette, who tallied one goal. Brissette scored on the power play 6:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hampton Roads Whalers. Hampton Roads Whalers had taken the advantage when NE Wolves' Tord Thoresen got sent off for roughing. Hampton Roads Whalers also got a goal from Scott Cornfield as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hampton Roads Whalers were Matthew Zendejas, who had two.

NE Wolves incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. NE Wolves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam Kent was ejected from the game. Brett Kilar made 69 saves for Hampton Roads Whalers on 72 shots. Hampton Roads Whalers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
