Palm Beach Hawks uses shootout to best Hampton Roads Whalers, 5-4 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Palm Beach Hawks defeated Hampton Roads Whalers in a shootout 5-4 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Palm Beach Hawks also got a shootout goal from Dan Fuller.

Palm Beach Hawks came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Palm Beach Hawks fell behind 3-1 after a short handed goal by Hampton Roads Whalers' Christopher Haynes at 7:10 in the first period. Palm Beach Hawks knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Cameron Snyder at 6:27 in the second period.

Nick Aleva had a great game for Palm Beach Hawks, netting two goals. Aleva's tallies came at 4:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Palm Beach Hawks and on the power play 8:07 into the first to make the score 3-2 Hampton Roads Whalers.

Hampton Roads Whalers was unable to stop Palm Beach Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Palm Beach Hawks eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Palm Beach Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Palm Beach Hawks additionally got points from Jake Simons, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Palm Beach Hawks also got a goal from Kevin Mansolill as well. In addition, Palm Beach Hawks received assists from Chip DeFelice, Justin Anderson, Matt Geib, and Joseph Richardson, who each chipped in one.

More assists for Hampton Roads Whalers came via Dylan Woods, who had two and William Naber, Devin DesNoyers, and Scott Cornfield, who contributed one a piece.

Blake Scott rejected 35 shots on goal for Hampton Roads Whalers. Hampton Roads Whalers registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
