Hampton Roads Whalers survives penalties, beats Florida Eels, 5-2

Florida Eels failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and Hampton Roads Whalers shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Hampton Roads Whalers was led by Scott Cornfield, who had one goal. Cornfield scored on the power play 19:53 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Hampton Roads Whalers. Hampton Roads Whalers had gained a power play chance when Brien Thompson was whistled for checking from behind. Matthew Zendejas assisted on the tally.
