Mt.Brydges completes comeback, beats Port Stanley, 5-4

The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Port Stanley Sailors.

Mt.Brydges let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Bulldogs took a 4-3 advantage on a power play goal by Tony Lindner at 11:46 in the third period. Mt.Brydges found itself down 2-0 after Port Stanley's Zak Jukna put the puck home at 5:12 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a short handed goal by Tyler Beaulieu at 12:42 in the third, the Bulldogs got the game-winner from Hayden Trbizan at 14:41 in the third period.

Mt.Brydges was led by Trbizan, who registered one goal.

The Bulldogs stifled the Sailors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mt.Brydges kept Port Stanley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ricky Corkum made 32 saves on 37 shots.

Mt.Brydges also got points from David Wade, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Cameron Dewan also scored for Mt.Brydges. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Robert McTaggart, who had one and Grant Johns, Jake Tierney, and Ryan Battersby, who each chipped in two.

The Bulldogs were unable to stop the Sailors from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Stanley eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Port Stanley additionally got points from Tanner Turley, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jukna, who also had one goal and one assist. Port Stanley also got a goal from Tyson Corkum as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Drew Eaton, who had three and Tom Yurek and Luke McGuire, who contributed one a piece.

Eric Steinman rejected 40 shots on goal for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Mt.Brydges, Matt Dacosta was ejected from the game. The Sailors totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Port Stanley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Taylor Schram was ejected from the game.
