Mt.Brydges vanquishes Exeter in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs defeated the Exeter Hawks in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Exeter's shootout goal was scored by Zach Anderson. Mt.Brydges also got a shootout goal from Sean Candler.

The Bulldogs came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mt.Brydges was down 3-0 after a goal by the Hawks' Kalvin Thornton at 3:53 in the second period. The Bulldogs knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Grant Johns at 10:56 in the third period.

Mt.Brydges was paced by Spencer Wilson, who had one goal. Wilson scored 5:25 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Exeter. Mike Frizzell assisted on the tally.

The Bulldogs kept Exeter's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Paolotto made 37 saves on 41 shots.

Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Connor Dunn as well. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Candler, who had two and Robert McTaggart and David Wade, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' offense rang up 40 shots on Mt.Brydges' net.

Exeter was helped by Cam Jude, who registered two goals. Jude scored the first of his two goals at 12:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Exeter. Thornton picked up the assist. Jude's next tally made the score 2-0 Exeter with 7:47 left in the first period. Thornton assisted on the tally. Exeter additionally got points from Thornton, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Exeter came via Anderson and Brodie Balcom, who each chipped in one.

Eric Steinman rejected 37 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Mt.Brydges incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Exeter, Chiristopher Pfaff was ejected from the game.
