North Middlesex falls apart in second, loses to Lucan, 11-5

The North Middlesex Stars allowed the Lucan Irish to net four goals during the second period and fell, 11-5.

Dylan Moss had four goals to lead Lucan to victory. Moss' first goal came 12:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:33 into the second, at 12:58 into the second, and at 1:31 into the third.

The Irish's offense rang up 44 shots on North Middlesex's net. Lucan surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Irish average 4.3 goals per contest. Lucan's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Irish finished with 34 penalty minutes.

Lucan also got points from Mitch Read, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Colin Hartwick, who also tallied three goals and one assist, and Cam Bond, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Lucan also got a goal from Dylan Murray as well. More assists for Lucan came via Mitch Smith, who had four and Fraser Lewis, Keiron Cobban, Colin Nancekivell, Wes Huston, and Matt Curtis, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars forced Lucan goalie Dylan Hoover to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. North Middlesex's goal total was higher than its season average. The Stars have scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. North Middlesex struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. Team could not crack the Irish's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Stars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

North Middlesex was helped by Nic Kowaluk, who racked up one goal. Kowaluk scored 3:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Middlesex. Jake Alkins provided the assist. North Middlesex additionally got points from Brock Pinnell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trevor Perrie also scored for North Middlesex. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Michael Quinn and Tommy Prokes, who each chipped in one.

Hoover recorded 34 saves for Lucan. The Stars' Alex Foster stopped 33 shots out of the 44 that he faced.
