Burford rides Davis to victory over Hagersville, 3-1SOJHL Sat, Dec 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Don Davis helped the Burford Bulldogs defeat the Hagersville Hawks, 3-1. Burford pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 19 penalty minutes. The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Vandenbussche, who finished with one goal. Vandenbussche scored 3:20 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Tyler MacLaughlin picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:28 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Hagersville was unable to stop Burford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulldogs eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Burford also got a goal from Guy Polillo as well. The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Burford power plays. Hagersville's offense operated below it season average. The Hawks average 4.8 goals per game. Hagersville forced Burford goalie Davis to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Hawks were led by Deacan Krause, who scored the team's only goal. Krause scored on the power play 1:19 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Hagersville had gotten the advantage when the Bulldogs' Tommy Smith was sent off for hooking. Hayden Baird assisted on the tally. Burford's Davis stopped 40 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Team's MacLaughlin and Cale Burbridge were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mitch Knight rejected 28 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For the Hawks, Jesse Ross and Baird were ejected from the contest. |
