Hagersville survives Tavistock comeback, wins 4-3

The Tavistock Braves tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hagersville Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Hagersville made the score 4-2 on a goal by Jesse Ross at 11:03 in the second period, and Tavistock got as close as 4-3 when Andrew Schacht scored 11:50 into the third period.

Ross was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Ross scored the first of his two goals at 1:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hagersville. Nick Halliday provided the assist. Ross' next tally made the score Hagersville with 8:57 left in the second period. Derek Medeiros picked up the assist.

Hagersville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Braves to score on any of their four power plays. The Hawks kept Tavistock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Parker made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Hagersville also got points from Medeiros, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Brad Hornby, who had one.

The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hagersville power plays. Tavistock forced Hagersville goalie Mitch Knight to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Tavistock also got a goal from Josh Wagler as well. More assists for Tavistock came via Deven Kropf, Derek Cowing, and Josh Zehr, who each chipped in one.

Knight rejected 29 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Braves ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
