The North Middlesex Stars could not stop the Exeter Hawks' Trevor Thornton, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win.

Thornton notched his first tally 3:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:13 into the first and at 5:11 into the third.

Exeter excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Hawks kept North Middlesex's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Swartzentruber made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Dylan Bedard also scored for Exeter. In addition, Exeter received assists from Alex Deluce, who had one, Matthew McLellan, who had three, and Wesley McGovern and John Kingma, who contributed two a piece.

The Stars forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 29.0 minutes per game North Middlesex had been spending in the box.

The Stars were led by Mack Graham, who scored the team's only goal. Graham scored 4:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Exeter. Brendon Vanhooydonk (APM) picked up the assist.

Colton James recorded 23 saves for Exeter. The Hawks totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 2-for-9 on the power play. For Exeter, Ryan Consitt was ejected from the game. North Middlesex ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Wuytenburg was ejected from the game.
