Wellesley beats Burford 3-0 as Heer gains shutout

The Wellesley Applejacks used a sparkling performance by Josh Heer to take down the Burford Bulldogs, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Wellesley's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Applejacks were led by Devon Wagner, who registered one goal and one assist. Wagner scored 4:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Reid Denstedt picked up the assist.

Wellesley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Burford power plays.

Wellesley also got a goal from Troy Williams as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Cody Tapsell and Corey Way, who contributed one a piece.

Burford's offense operated below it season average. The Bulldogs average 5.3 goals per game. Burford's offense rang up 46 shots on the Applejacks' net.

Heer rejected 46 shots on goal for Wellesley. The Applejacks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Bulldogs' Don Davis stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Burford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
