Vandenbussche's hat trick boosts Burford over Norfolk, 10-3

A hat trick by Tyler Vandenbussche was the highlight in Bulldogs' 10-3 win against the Norfolk Rebels.

Vandenbussche's first goal came 15:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:45 into the second and at 16:32 into the third.

The Burford Bulldogs' penalty kill excelled, as Burford gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:37 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The the Bulldogs penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. Burford surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bulldogs' offense rang up 39 shots on Norfolk's net. Burford outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Bulldogs average 5.8 goals per contest. Burford was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Burford also got points from JJ Haroland, who also registered one goal and two assists and Adam Harris, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Burford included Matt Cartmel, who had two and Tommy Smith, Peter Janeck, and Scott Pennwarden, who each put in one. In addition, Burford received assists from Cale Burbridge, who had one, Tyler MacLaughlin, who had five, and Kyle Chaney and Jim Salatas, who contributed two a piece.

The Rebels were helped by Andrew Patenaude, who had one goal. Patenaude scored 4:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norfolk. Norfolk also got a goal from Chris Murray as well. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Kurtis Pettitt, Kent Wardell, Nate Parker, and Dylan Cole, who each chipped in one.

Ben Beechey rejected 25 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. For Burford, Jesse Brooks and Burbridge were ejected from the contest. Alex Tipping made 29 saves for Norfolk on 39 shots. The Rebels ended with 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. Team's Brayden Dickinson and Ryan Oatway were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
