Hagersville outlasts Burford, 4-3

The Hagersville Hawks and the Burford Bulldogs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hagersville made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Derek Medeiros secured the win for the Hawks with a goal in the third period.

Medeiros had one goal and two assists to lead Hagersville. Medeiros scored 16:51 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hagersville. Eric Drehmer assisted on the tally.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Hagersville forced Burford goalie Don Davis to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Hagersville additionally got points from Deacan Krause, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jesse Ross, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Hayden Baird also scored for Hagersville. More assists for Hagersville came via Mitch Green and Cole Martin, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs' offense operated below they season average. Burford puts an average of 5.9 pucks into the net per game.

The Bulldogs were helped by Matt Cartmel, who racked up one goal. Cartmel scored 3:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Burford. Tyler Vandenbussche provided the assist. Burford also got points from Vandenbussche, who also had one goal and one assist. Burford also got a goal from Pat Bates as well. In addition, Burford received assists from JJ Haroland, who had two and Tommy Smith, Jesse Brooks, and Jim Salatas, who contributed one a piece.

Justin Paccheco rejected 27 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Davis recorded 27 saves for Burford. The Bulldogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
