Burford squeaks by Delhi, 8-7

The game between the Burford Bulldogs and the Delhi Travellers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Burford emerged with an 8-7 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ryan White at 14:55 of the second period.

Jim Salatas and White provided the spark for the Bulldogs, combining for three goals and one assist. Salatas tallied two goals and one assist and White also added one goal.

Burford's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Burford forced Travellers' netminders to work in net, getting 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Alex Stephens made 17 stops and Nick Heath made nine. The Bulldogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Burford also got points from Tyler Vandenbussche, who also had one goal and two assists, Guy Polillo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Peter Janeck, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Adam Harris, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Thomlison also scored for Burford. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were JJ Haroland, who had two and Nathan Boyle and Tommy Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Delhi forced Burford goalie Don Davis to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Travellers were led by Derek Friesen, who tallied two goals and one assist. Friesen scored the first of his two goals at 6:44 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Burford. Colin VanDale picked up the assist. Friesen's next tally made the score 6-6 with 9:34 left in the second period. Taylor Hockley provided the assist. Delhi additionally got points from Harrison McRobert, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Hockley, who also had one goal and one assist. Delhi also had goals scored by Jeremy Jacobs, who had one and Cody Stout, who had two. In addition, Delhi received assists from Brad Ward, who had one.

Don Davis made 27 saves for the Bulldogs on 34 shots. Burford incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Delhi incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
