Delhi rips Norfolk, 5-2

The Delhi Travellers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Norfolk Rebels.

Jordan Belanger was all over the ice for Delhi, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Belanger scored 12:16 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Delhi. Cody Stout assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:47 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Travellers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Norfolk power plays. Delhi forced Norfolk goalie Jason Miller to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Travellers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Delhi additionally got points from Harrison McRobert, who also registered two goals and one assist. Delhi also got a goal from Brad Ward as well. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Colin VanDale, who had one and Derek Friesen, who had two.

Kurtis Pettitt also scored for Norfolk. In addition, Norfolk received assists from Kent Wardell, Andrew Patenaude, and Dylan Heaslip, who each chipped in one.

Alex Stephens made seven saves before being replaced by Joe Drexler, who took the win and made 18 saves. Delhi totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Travellers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Bradshaw was ejected from the game. Miller rejected 26 shots on goal for the Rebels. Norfolk ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Team's Ryan Oatway and Chris Murray were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
